SEX!! Do I Have Your Attention Now?

Sex education classes are mandatory in most middle and high schools, but we are hardly taught about the nooks of our brains which can cause unpleasant thoughts and images to haunt our dreams, and even reality. We are clueless on the deep, dark places our minds can take us, and how difficult it can be to catch a breath of air after being under for so long. Not everyone knows thoughts are uncontrollable, that what we think isn't always true or real. We know all about the sores on our genitals, how to use a condom, and what to do with the banana once fitted, but not how to identify a mental disorder or how/when to get help. Safe sex IS important, but we are more likely to die from a mental illness, whether our own or someone else's, than a herpes break out. Most of us are taught from an early age, a sense of "normalcy" as if every individual fits into some generic mold of human kind. Sure, we know about emotions, but not how to handle the reigns when they're out of control. We are led to believe any deviation from the beaten path, anything but "normal" will lead to a loss of freedom and/or loved ones. - Tell me, on a scale of 1-10, how badly do you just want to scream, run away, and never feel anything again? - Let's talk about intrusive thoughts... "An intrusive thought is an unwelcome, involuntary thought, image, or unpleasant idea that may become an obsession, is upsetting or distressing, and can feel difficult to manage or eliminate. "EVERYONE has intrusive thoughts, no matter the severity. Combined with a mental disorder, such as OCD, anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, etc...and you've potentially got one disturbed individual. Nobody seems to notice a mental breakdown, until the person suffering from one does something terrible, irreversible...then everything turns to, "Why didn't they just get help? They should have known something was wrong. They should have known better." or "They didn't seem to have these problems. They seemed normal. "Even when we DO reach for help, there is no guarantee anyone will do anything but throw pills down our throats and tell us to "get over it". Everyone is always caught up in "Who done it" rather than investigating the background story, what could have been done to prevent this person from going "postal", what can be done to prevent similar occurrences, or who was involved in their mental health care... HA! "Mental health care"? In America?? LOL There is absolutely NO way to prevent all crimes. Humans can be impulsive, disgusting, and violent, despite knowing the consequences, but it's absurd to believe anyone has full control of their bodies and/or minds at all times. We simply DON'T. America seems to be in the midst of a psychotic break, and nobody is being provided with the knowledge or resources to crawl out of it. When one of us breaks, we only become an enemy of society, and are never given the tools or opportunity to glue ourselves back together.
